Meet the 2024 Winner: Franziska J. Rosser, MD, MPH, ATSF
Franziska J. Rosser, MD, MPH, ATSF is a pediatric pulmonologist at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics within the Division of Pulmonary Medicine, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is a provider in the Severe Asthma Clinic and is the sole pediatric pulmonologist in the nation’s only dedicated Juvenile Systemic Scleroderma Center.
Dr. Rosser received her medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Greenville Hospital System/University of South Carolina Greenville and pediatric pulmonology fellowship at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She received her Master of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health.
Dr. Rosser is a former University of Pittsburgh Institute for Clinical Research Education Clinical and Translational Science KL2 Scholar, has received funding from the American Thoracic Society (ATS) to conduct a pilot clinical trial to evaluate adding the Air Quality Index to routine childhood asthma care, and is currently a Principal Investigator of an NHLBI funded K08 evaluating the association of chronic outdoor air pollution on airway “omics” in children with asthma. She is a member of the ATS Environmental Health Policy Committee and ATS Pediatric Assembly Program Committee.

The Pediatrics Assembly is pleased to announce the Robert B. Mellins, M.D. Outstanding Achievement Award, given to a candidate at the Instructor, Assistant Professor, or early Associate Professor level, who is recognized for achievement in scholarship or research achievements over the course of their career to date.
Criteria:
- The candidate should be recognized for making seminal contributions to the science or practice of Pediatric Respiratory Medicine.
- The candidate should be recognized by their peers as an outstanding clinician and/or researcher, teacher and mentor.
- Contributions to the Pediatric Assembly in the form of Committee participation or Chairmanship will be viewed favorably.
- Candidates in Pediatric Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Neonatal Medicine all will be considered.
