Meet the 2024 Winner: Zhiyua Dai ATSF
Zhiyu Dai is an assistant professor and Director of Translational Endothelial Research at Department of Internal Medicine, University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix. He received his Ph.D. from Sun Yat-sen University, China and completed his postdoctoral training in lung vascular biology at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Northwestern University, USA. Zhiyu has been recognized nationally a recipient for NIH K99/R00 award (2017-2022), ATS/PHA Aldrighetti Research Award for Young Investigators (2019), Grover Conference Young Investigator Award (2019), American Physiology Society Respiratory Section New Investigator Award (2024). He has been a member of ATS since 2017, and currently the co-chair for ATS PC Assembly Early Career Working Group, and the member of the Program Committee. The research interest in his laboratory is studying lung vascular biology, endothelial cells mediated cardiopulmonary diseases including pulmonary hypertension and the identification of novel targets for cardiopulmonary diseases using transgenic animal models, lineage tracing approaches, single-cell omics.
Description:
This award will be given to one individual with a promising career trajectory who has made outstanding scientific contributions relevant to the understanding of the vascular basis of lung disease, including basic science at the level of the cell and molecular biology, lung vascular physiology, translational biology, or clinical medicine. Awardees will be presented with a framed certificate at the annual PC Membership Meeting during the ATS International Conference.
Criteria:
- Must be within 7 years from the start of first faculty appointment/lectureship at the time of submission
- Submission of a complete nomination package including 1) letters of support from 2 different members of the PC assembly describing the candidate’s contributions, potential, and why the award is appropriate; 2) the candidate’s curriculum vitae and 3) a copy of an abstract that will be presented at the ATS meeting on which the candidate is first or senior author.
