The ATS Education Unit provides career development resources, professional education opportunities, educational products and programs, statements, guidelines, and reports to the pulmonary, critical care, and sleep community.
The American Thoracic Society is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. As of May 2012, the ATS cultivated partnerships with the American Board of Internal Medicine to develop MOC Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment modules and the American Board of Pediatrics to develop MOC Part 2 Self-Assessment modules.
Collaboration with ATS Committees
The ATS Education Unit is comprised of 5 full-time staff members who are responsible for staffing the following ATS committees:

- Clinicians Advisory Committee
- Members In Transition and Training (MITT) Committee
- Medical Education Working Group
- Hands On Education Working Group
- Interprofessional Team Working Group
The ATS is a non-profit international professional society for pulmonary, critical care, and sleep professionals. The Society is registered with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
